Moving out of the marketing area and need to close your account?
Most of your banking needs can be completed online or within our app* using the digital services we offer. However, we understand that being able to walk into a bank is a service that digital products cannot replace.
Before you begin the account closure process with Republic Bank, we recommend that you download your last 18 months of statements from Statements & Documents in your online or app menu. Once your account is fully closed, your Online & Mobile Banking* login will no longer be available to access your statements.
The best way to close an account is to close at a zero account balance, so you are not waiting on your funds. If you have moved away from our market area and decide to close your account with a balance, we will mail a cashiers check of the remaining account balance to the address on file.
When you are ready to close your account, you can contact us directly by phone or chat, or you can submit a secure message using Easy Support. Just select the +New Message option in the Easy Support feature within the website or app menu.
Here are some example solutions if you want to close your account at a zero or near zero account balance:
Open an account with your nearest banking institution and write a check from your Republic Bank checking account for the full account balance and deposit or cash the funds into your new bank account. Once the check clears and your Republic Bank account is at a zero balance, call, chat, or submit a secure message through Easy Support to officially close your account.
Don't have any Republic Bank checks? We offer Counter Checks for $1 in at any of our locations, if you haven't moved out of the area yet. You may also use our free External Transfers service offered within Personal Online Banking. We also recommend that you use your new banks digital services to transfer your remaining funds to your new account.
